About
Warkay Beldi
Inspired by Amazigh Roots, Designed with Vision, Crafted with Elegance
The idea for our brand was born in my native village, “Ait Kine,” a village in the Anti Atlas region located in the south of the Kingdom of Morocco, about fifty kilometers from the city of Tata.
In June 2019, by coincidence, I visited a small local cooperative specializing in the production and sale of clothing, rugs, and carpets. Most of its customers were tourists from all over the world, eager to discover this village, a true gem of regional heritage. Ait Kine is home to one of the oldest collective granaries in the world, which is still in operation, called “Agadir,” as well as the famous seven watchtowers and “Dar Al Mourabitoun,” a traditional house typical of the southern provinces, over 400 years old.
As the village elder once said in Ait Kine, “Traditions disappear, but not here.” After deep reflection, fueled by passion, I decided to create Warkay, a brand that reflects our identity and honors our culture: the Amazigh Moroccan culture. This brand tells our story, our roots, our traditional craftsmanship, and our ancestral values.
The goal of this brand is to collaborate with the tailors of my village, as well as those across the Kingdom, who create this handmade craftsmanship, in order to present this cultural heritage in a contemporary way and showcase its value. The story of Warkay is not just about a brand, it is a cultural imprint embodied by the best Moroccan tailors and seamstresses.
I chose my Amazigh family name for my clothing brand to reflect the authenticity and originality of my cultural roots, while bringing a unique and personal dimension to the brand’s identity.
